I folded the fabric of space and time

In the Chinese laundry of life,

And all I got was this t-shirt.  
But I like it.

I molded all your heroes from the thoughts in your mind

Including this quandary of life

And made sure you won’t get hurt.  
Hope you like it

But I know it’s time to learn anew

And I only learn the best stuff from you

So I keep chuckin’ these mufflers and hangin’ these pipes

And wond’ring how any of this could be right,

And I’m almost certain you’re the answer

I can’t deny it, so let’s try it.

You’re my tomorrow

And you’ll be better than today

If I could borrow one more breath

And one more life if I could save

And I’m forever in your debt

Please forgive me if I’m not there yet

We never let on

We just went through the motions

Until it finally dawned on you

Your wild and crazy friends

They came to see you play

Until that moment arrived

It was just another day for you

And we did it all just because

The simplest things still make me cry

I couldn’t even tell you why

There’s something way down inside

These precious moments – they unfold

More valuable than all the gold

Than sweet mother earth could ever hide

The happiness we hope to find

In vain we search for any kind

And still it always seems we are denied

Somewhere between the silence and the song

There’s a place that’s neither right nor wrong

Where someone who has a heart of pure gold

Doesn’t have to be told

They can’t be bought or sold

Someplace that’s not too hot or cold

There’s a soul that’s neither young nor old

Somewhere between the piano keys

And the hardest of times – times just like these

You’ll hear the softest voice that begs you, please

Would you hold on to me?

But I can’t write a song like this

I can’t express the total bliss

Of such a completely enchanted kiss

I can’t find the words

Elusive as identity

One infinite eternity

And this is what it’s like to be with you

Chewing on the chain

In a state of denial

If I lined up all my vices in single file

And still I wouldn’t be done

Evasive as serenity

Sometimes I think maybe you miss me, too
