Less Than One

©2009 David Moody

The smoke that clouds my guiding light
The alcohol that brings the truth
The time I spent just reticent
And hungry for some proof

That life is what you’re giving me
This life is what we’re living – we’d do well
To be forgiving of mistakes in our youth

This flesh and bone I call my home
This vehicle that sings my song
Is less than one without the love I’ve known
To give me courage and make me strong

Enough to build worth living
And a life that’s filled with giving – I’m as ready
As I’ll ever be, and I believe I was all along
